ROMA NGOs IN PROMOTING ACHIEVEMENT

In the hall of Local Office “Djuka Dinic”, Association of citizens of Roma people “Pride” with the presence of numerous guests celebrated International Day of Roma – April 8th. Special program opened “Pride Choir” with the anthem of Roma “Djelem, djelem”, after which the youngsters perform a monologue “Cegar`s beauty”. Then was presented a short documentary film by Meda Bajramovic, “Synonyms of the City”, which reminded on creation and operation of some of the famous citizens of Nis, the Roma population. Presented are Saban Bajramovic, king of Roma music, Sadik Saitovic, well-known choreographer of folk games, Said Balic, who funded first Association of Roma in Nis and done very much for development of Roma population. “I can not say that today for Roma in society is not doing anything, but is not doing enough. I primarily refer to education and employment. This day is very important for promotion of Roma achievement in all segments of society – said in meeting with journalists Bajramovic.

In the space of Local Office “Djuka Dinic” during the celebration it is presented and photo exhibition of the most known Roma in the world, including, beside Saban Bajramovic, special place occupied Usnija Regepova, Esma Regepova.
Celebration was attended by representatives of management of City Municipality of Palilula, on which territory association is located. Member of the Council of Municipality, Boban Mikic, as sing of cooperation hand to president of the Association “Pride” in the name of president of the Municipality, thanks for the contribution to the activities on improving the life of Roma. To the congratulations joined and Slavoljub Savic, head of Municipal administration associate of Palilula Municipality.

“Can not look at any part of history of Nis, and that does not meet with any members of the Roma community, primarily in the area of music and sport. This suggests that Roma population is an integral part of this city and this society – said Mikic and highlighted that Association “Pride” since 2003rd works on the program of overcoming language barriers, to kids of Roma minority could smoothly follow instruction.
